We’re pleased to announce that this week we launched a policy lab exploring regenerative design in the built environment, co-hosted with Constructivist.

What is regenerative design and how does it relate to the built environment?

New approaches are emerging in the built environment that not only minimise harm, but actively create positive and restorative outcomes for the environment and society.

There is an emerging consensus on key aspects of regenerative design across the built environment, such as placing nature and people at the heart of construction, designing at a system level, and shifting towards long-term value creation.

But the steps to turn principles of regenerative design into practice are often unclear, and key actors lack the impetus to change.

What’s the purpose of the lab?

The aim of the lab is to explore the question: How can we create policy that delivers regenerative design?

To do this, we’ve brought together built environment and regenerative design practitioners with policy professionals to experiment together on how to embed regenerative design across the built environment.

The lab is a cohort-based programme where participants actively test out ideas and potential solutions in their work over nine months.

We will be sharing back the ideas, challenges, insights and potential pathways the Lab generates regularly.
